new´s week 27-31

New’s: Week 27-31
For 75 years, pregnant women in Finland have received State cartons. It's like a starter pack with clothes, blankets and toys that in turn can be used as a crib. Many argue that this policy has helped the Nordic country is one of the nations with the lowest infant mortality rate in the world.
It is a tradition dating back to the early 30s and seeks to give all Finnish children, regardless of social status a fair start in life.
The maternity package, a gift of the government, is available to all expectant.
With the mattress on the bottom, the box becomes baby's first bed. Many children have their first nap inside security offered by cardboard walls.
Mothers can choose to take the cash or receive cash (about $ 214), but 95% opt for the box, since its value is much higher.
This tradition was born in 1938. At first it was just for low-income families, something that changed in 1949.
The case mothers gave them what they needed to care for their babies, but also helped lead the women into the arms of the health professional’s nascent welfare state in Finland.

MAKING LIFE IS WON CURIOSITIES

Until one day he had a stroke of luck. In a viewpoint and pulling a photo with the bay bottom was Kaylan O'Connor. Do not think twice. He came and sat at the feet of the American tourist who fell in love with him.
It was love at first sight and spent eight hours together she and her family were in the harbor, as the final stop of their cruise.
O'Connor was married, but her husband did not care.
"He jumped into our arms as if to say 'hello'. Was so sweet and followed us around the rest of the trip playing with us. Knew we needed a home and we love dogs," O'Connor tells the BBC from Seattle.
Thus began the love story of Kaylan and Chili Dog, the chocolate brown mutt who seduced and which spent nearly $ 2,000 to give a home across the continent. "Money well spent," said Kaylan itself tells BBC.
Kaylan had to deal with the return cruise. They had to say goodbye, but not forever.
Eight hours were enough for Chili Dog to remain stamped on the minds of O'Connor. So much so that now back in late February, internet searched associations animal rights in Chile to see if I could manage to Chili Dog became his pet in Seattle.
I got an email in English to an American who said he was in love with a dog on the street and wanted to send him to Seattle. I read with skepticism, I found it strange "

The Germans get rid of the worst twisters

In Spanish it takes 15 words a sentence to describe entirely the longest word in the German language, one of 63 letters that just disappeared:
It means "law for the transfer of supervisory tasks in the labeling of beef," a regional policy which was replaced by the authorities.
The twister-rare in common use-never appeared in the dictionary, but it was the longest word in an official document. Not even its abbreviation, which theoretically should serve to make things easier, is saved from being complex:
The record between the words in the dictionary itself is to Kraftfahrzeughaftpflichtversicherung shorter than the law but surely a term that creates more headaches for ordinary people because it means "mandatory car insurance".
These words are extreme examples of this language feature: the long and sometimes convoluted compound word in German is defined, of course, with a compound word and difficult Bandwurmwörter (something like "tapeworm words" if literally translated).
Now, according to German media, are looking for a new candidate for first place.
As regulations on beef, most of the longest words in the German language come from laws. In other cases these chemical terms.
Beyond what the meaning, language earthworms explain a phenomenon typical of this language: it is theoretically possible to construct infinite words, almost as if they were putting together a Lego.
